His birth is Jibon Barthakur. He had been named after the wonderful composer Zubin Mehta and utilized their Gautra because of his surname. Zubeen was created to Mr. Mohini. M. Borthakur, a famed lyricist and poet (who utilizes the pseudo name Kapil Thakur), also overdue Mrs. Ily Borthakur. Zubeen Garg believes his mom to become his first mentor and genius. Zubeen's younger sister Jonkie Borthakur was a well-known singer and performer who died in a car crash in 2002. Zubeen's other sister Palme, is a fantastic Bharatnatyam dancer, currently living in Guwahati.

He intends on launching an institute in the near future to assist individuals that are mentally challenged also.

Zubeen resides with his spouse Garima, a fashion designer, in his own apartment, which is part of his audio studio named Sound & Silence, situated at 165/1, Sher-E-Punjab, Andheri East, Mumbai, India.
Zubeen has started a chain of beauty parlours across northeast India known as Zubeen's Veda.



Zubeen began learning tabla out of Guru Robin Banarjee, then continued learning Assamese folk songs type Pro Romoni Rai. He attended J.B. College at Jorhat, then moved into B. Barooah College, where he had been chasing Bachelor of Science after his family moved permanently to Guwahati. However he didn't finish his baccalaureate research as he jumped to the music arena.

Zubeen's life needed a turning point when he obtained the gold medal because of his western solo operation from the youth festival held in 1992. 

This odd album became an immediate hit in the whole northeast India and also re-defined Assamese musical landscape for the coming 21st century.

With roughly 40 albums to his name, Zubeen continues his musical career leading music in over 24 Assamese films such as several Hindi and Bangla films too. He also received the Very Best Music Award in 2005 for its Bangla film Shudhu Tumi.

Zubeen believes himself to be a musician having sung over 9000 songs in a variety of languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Oriya, Bengali, Marathi, Nepali, and lots of more. The tune Ya Ali in the film Gangster turned into a superhit in southern India, the Middle East and throughout South Asia. Observing the success, a record titled'Ya Ali Remix Blast' comprising remix from DJ Suketu & Aks was published.

Back in 2000, Zubeen composed, directed and acted in his own Assamese movie Tumi Mor Matho Mor. He acted, co-produced and scored music in a different Assamese movie Dinabandhu, where he also received a national award in 2005. Zubeen had written music for Strings - Bound By Faith, a Hindi movie, directed by Sanjay Jha that premiered in 2006.

Mukha and Uronia Mon would be the newest solo Assamese records of Zubeen published from the year of 2007 under the N.K. manufacturing banner. At present, he's working on his newest Hindi record Chakra. Zubeen developed his own Hindi record'Zindagi' in 2007, which obtained admiration.

In addition, he worked in the movie record of his Assamese music record"Rumal" that was released in 2008. The movie record was released at the Bengali variation in Kolkata.
